If he cannot immediately solve the concern, Danny engages with his myriad of sources to find the solution and goes the extra mile to ensure all digital platforms are operating at peak performance.”

🥚🧬📚Egg Drop STEM Day at DS Johnson Elementary 🥚🧬📚
In collaboration with K-12 Science Specialist, Jessica Richardson, STEM Coordinator, Marcy Keener, Digital Teaching and Learning Coaches, Caroline Aycock and Lindsay Jones, and AIG/ Fine Arts Coordinator, Wendy Hinson, 5th-grade students at DS Johnson Elementary School had an "egg"celent opportunity to engage in a lesson on resilience. This also allowed students to apply Newton's Laws of Motion with engineering design, and use computational and mathematical thinking to graph data.

NCPS will be sponsoring a series of workshops targeting parents regarding EC and 504.
Parents and educators will be able to gain a deep understanding of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)/504.
🗓️Workshop Dates🗓️
• January 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. Topic: Understanding the components of your child’s IEP/504.
• January 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Topic: Advocacy and Preparation.
• February 8th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Topic: EC-Processes and Myths.
Parents will need to have their child's IEP/504 for the meeting.

Attention NCPS Bus Riders:
As of now, 5,761 of our students are consistently utilizing the bus services across our 7,571 bus routes. This means there are 1,810 routes currently underused.
Important Update!
From November 27th to December 8th, we're thoroughly reviewing all bus routes. This process is crucial to confirm the actual number of students using our bus services. If your child is a bus rider, please ensure they use the bus service consistently during these two weeks. This will help us maintain accurate routing information.
If your child doesn't ride the bus, please let your school's bus coordinator and assistant principal know.
Your cooperation is essential in optimizing our transportation services for all students.

Meet Andrea Brown, teacher of the Health Science Pathway at NCHS. (20 years!)
What is the highlight of your career being in this role? One of the highlights is watching their faces when they FINALLY understand how a strong foundation in medical terminology pays off.
Can you describe the key components of the program at your school or schools that make it stand out among others? The NCPS Health Science students are held to a very high standard. Each registered nurse/teacher across the district has a different approach but the consistent theme is one of excellence.
What motivated you to become a teacher in this, and how has your passion influenced your teaching approach? I wanted to influence future health providers to be as passionate about healthcare as I am. They know that Mrs. Brown always expects a perfect effort-maybe not a perfect result But a perfect effort!
Could you share some specific success stories or achievements of your students within this CTE Pathway that you are particularly proud of? The biggest highlight of my teaching career has been the MANY students who have graduated with advanced degrees in health care; nurses, doctors and therapists. returning to visit and sharing their success- expressing that NCHS is where it all began.
What's the best advice you can give to a student who is either considering this CTE pathway or is already involved? Study hard, learn something new EVERYDAY, always give your best because your future patients deserve it!

On Saturday, November 18, all NCPS high schools offering the Nursing Fundamentals program participated in the event titled "Behind the Red Line," hosted by UNC Nash Perioperative Services. This event gave students hands-on experiences related to what goes on before, during, and after surgery to spark interest in perioperative services. Students had the opportunity to start IVs on mannequins, use the DaVinci Robot used in robotic surgery, intubate a mannequin, perform a surgical hand scrub, and practice CPR.
