Big moment for Northern Nash! 🏈 On Friday, June 6, Northern Nash High School celebrated the ribbon cutting of their brand-new field house. “This fieldhouse is more than brick and mortar. It's a place where athletes will train, where leaders will be developed, and where lifelong memories will be made,” said Angie Miller, Special Assistant of Auxiliary Services, Operations, and Wellness. Head Football Coach Andrew Farriss added, “Being able to walk out the locker room doors and be right on the practice field is going to be huge for us... The facilities inside will make coaching duties easier and more convenient, as well.” Superintendent Dr. Steve Ellis shared his thanks: “To our coaches, our families, our school board, our construction teams, and this incredible community — thank you.” This marks the final field house needed in the district: 🏫 2001 – NCHS 🏫 2011 – SNHS 🏫 2012 – RMHS 🏫 2025 – NNHS ✔️ Check out photos from this milestone moment and help us celebrate the future of Northern Nash athletics! 💚 To see some amazing drone footage by Garry Hodges, visit https://youtu.be/itJoPDO1SRE #KnightPride #FieldHouseFinale #NCPSchools #nashcountypublicschools #ncps #nashcounty

🎉 June is off to an incredible start at Nash County Public Schools! 🎉 During our June Board of Education meeting, we celebrated the talent, leadership, and hard work that make NCPS an outstanding place to learn and grow for students and staff alike. 🎨 Art Contest Winners – “Why NCPS is the Best Place to Work” We recently hosted a district-wide art contest, challenging students to creatively show why Nash County Public Schools is the best place to work. Students of all ages rose to the challenge and blew us away with their imagination and heart! After a round of district voting, we’re proud to recognize our three student winners: 🏆 Jackson Ennis – Red Oak Elementary 🏆 Bre’On Hatch – Rocky Mount Middle 🏆 Faith Hunter – Northern Nash High Each winner received a Stanley Cup as a token of our appreciation. Their artwork is a powerful reminder of the joy and inspiration that can be found in our schools every day! Please check out their amazing artwork! 🎓 Future-Ready Leaders: Cara Patterson & Tracy Spence Join us in congratulating two of our exceptional assistant principals, Cara Patterson of Northern Nash High and Tracy Spence of Nash Central High, for completing the North Carolina Future-Ready Leadership Program. This prestigious, yearlong initiative is designed to help rising school leaders grow in their leadership capacity through a combination of in-person trainings, coaching, and hands-on learning. Cara and Tracy’s dedication to leadership excellence is helping to shape a brighter future for NCPS. 🌕 STEM in Action: Plant the Moon Challenge NASA’s Plant the Moon Challenge invited students to engage in real-world STEM learning by using simulated lunar soil to explore how plants might grow on the Moon. Over 936 students across North Carolina participated, and we’re proud to announce that two teams from Southern Nash Middle School earned the title “Best in Show” — one of the highest honors in the entire state. Only four teams received this recognition! 🎉 Congratulations to the students and their coach, Mr. Timothy Finn, 7th-grade science teacher at SNMS, for bringing curiosity and science to life in a truly out-of-this-world way. Each team will receive a $650 award to support future STEM activities. 🏅 Dudley Whitley Coach of the Year – Honoring Legacy and Excellence Mr. Whitley was a standout football, basketball, and baseball athlete at Rocky Mount High. He went on to play baseball at NC State and several years of professional ball before returning to Nash County to serve as a teacher, coach, district athletic director, and ultimately, superintendent. He believed coaching was one of life’s greatest callings, where lessons in teamwork, discipline, humility, and leadership are learned on and off the field. We are proud to name Coach Kyle Bain, athletic director at Nash Central High School, as the 2024–2025 Dudley Whitley Coach of the Year! Coach Bain has also achieved the distinction of National Board Certified Master Athletic Administrator, a rigorous national certification that recognizes his high standards, deep knowledge, and commitment to student-athletes. His leadership is shaping lives far beyond the scoreboard. 👏 We are so proud of our students, educators, and coaches who go above and beyond to make Nash County Public Schools a place where excellence thrives. #NCPSProud #WhyWeChooseNash #LeadershipInAction #CoachOfTheYear #FutureReady #STEMStars #StudentSuccess #ExcellenceInEducation

Due to statewide disruptions with the online EOG/EOC testing platform today, many of our students experienced technical issues impacting the completion of their test. Due to the varying levels of technical difficulties at each school, students across the district were impacted differently. We understand this is frustrating and appreciate your patience as we work with NCPDI to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to complete their EOG/EOCs. If needed, further guidance regarding EOG/EOC testing will come directly from your child's school.
