At the March Board of Education (BOE) meeting, Christy Grant, NCPS Executive Director of EC and Student Support Services, was recognized and received the Distinguished Service Award from the North Carolina Council of Administrators of Special Education. 🏆🌟 Her efforts played a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission, focusing on providing high-quality professional learning that is relevant and essential in the field of special education. This learning is designed to offer world-class opportunities for networking and growth in the field of special education leadership. Christy's contributions have undoubtedly left a lasting imprint on the organization. Next, Leslie Taylor and Linda Carter from Nashville Elementary were recognized. They serve as shining examples of selflessness and dedication. Often, their classroom—the library at Nashville Elementary—is used for district functions. Their willingness to accommodate and always lend a helping hand does not go unnoticed! From arranging and rearranging tables and chairs to hooking up AV equipment, these ladies play an instrumental role in the success of these events. They are truly appreciated and are NCPS heroes! 👏 🌟 Last but not least, Dr. LaShawnda Washington, Evelyn Bulluck, and Bill Sharpe, BOE members, were recognized last night. The North Carolina School Board Association offers educational opportunities to the BOE. These three individuals have received certificates of achievement from the North Carolina School Boards Association Academy of School Boardsmanship for the 2022-2023 academic year. Dr. LaShanda Washington received the Award of Excellence for completing 301-400 hours of training. Bill Sharpe received the Certificate of Advanced Achievement for completing 201-300 hours of training.
