At the April Board of Education meeting, we celebrated the achievements of our students and staff! π
Emmanuel Perkins, Kennedy Farmer, Ke'Sondra Pickett, Ahnaya Bellamy, and Dalaney Cooper-Pittman of Rocky Mount High School were honored for their excellence in Student Government. They were recognized as a Louise Hunter State High School Honor Council at the NC Association of Students Councils Convention! π
Ke'Sondra Pickett was also recognized as the 2023-2024 NC Association of Student Councils Eastern District Chair Student Representative. She was inducted into the NCASC Hall of Fame at the recent convention! π
Jon Ayden Horne, a senior at Nash Central High School, was recently awarded the Morehead-Cain Scholarship! This scholarship is a four-year fully funded educational experience for exceptional student leaders at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. π
Three NCPS students accepted their invitation to attend the North Carolina Governorβs School program this summer: Frederick Lindsey, Chandler Logan, and Ann Marie Cauble. One alternate student was selected, Demitri Braxton. This esteemed program offers a four-week summer residential experience for gifted and talented high school students, focusing on academic disciplines and the arts. π₯
The NCPS Communication, Planning, and Engagement Department recently attended the North Carolina School Public Relations Association's Blue Ribbon Award ceremony in High Point. Tonya Oliver says βMs. Bratts is a wonderful 7th-grade ELA teacher. She knows and teaches her content so well that a five-year-old child can understand. The students here at Rocky Mount Middle love her spirit and attitude towards learning. They also know that if any problems arise they can talk and confide in Ms. Bratts and she will do all she can to help them. She is also a great leader in the school especially with ideas on celebration for students, faculty, parents, etc.β
