Good Evening Bear Family - Congratulations to our Battle of the Books Team for taking 3rd Place last week during the NCPS Battle of the Books Competition. Just a reminder that the grading period ends tomorrow, Monday, March 18. If students are not passing their courses, there is no option for Summer School this year. Students will be retained. Only Grades 2nd and 3rd will have an option for Summer School; however, this is not a process in passing their grades, it is for enrichment purposes only. We have our Brick City Competition on Friday, and our 3rd Graders will be traveling to the Durham Life and Science Museum on Friday. We have our Youth Arts Night on Monday, March 25th from 6 pm until 7:30 pm at EES. Tickets are on sale for $3.00 per person or $10.00 for a family of four. This is a fundraiser for our Arts and Athletics Programs. We have 20 student participants in this show. We are also looking forward to Tuesday evening for our Spring Curriculum Night for Are You Smarter than a 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grader? We will begin with dinner at 5:30 in the Multipurpose Room, then move to areas for specifically grades 3-5. We will end at 6:30 pm. Good Evening Bear Family - This week is Read Across America week. We are celebrating by participating in One School, One Book by reading the book, “A Fish in a Tree” in our classrooms. Students will be reading the book with their teachers. Students can also participate in having a Book Exchange. Students can bring a book from home to donate to the library, then they can choose a book to take home to read and keep. In addition, students can dress up like their favorite book character on Friday of this week. (No masks or hats allowed). On Wednesday, we will have our yearly Tornado Drill. We practice these drills, just in case there is an issue ever on our campus. Please make sure that you complete the Google form for signing up to attend the Spring Curriculum Night on March 12. Good Evening Bear Family - This past week was a great week at Englewood. We had a great time with our families and students last week, and this week is another great week at Englewood. This week, we have Lifetouch class pictures tomorrow, as well as pictures for those who missed the first picture day. Tuesday and Thursday, we have auditions for Englewood’s Youth Talent Show - students had to sign up by last Thursday to audition. On Wednesday is Kindness Day; if students and staff would like to participate, please wear pink. On Saturday, we play our next round in the NCPS Elementary Basketball League. If you missed the game - Both girls and boys won! They are amazing on the court. Also, on Saturday, our Odyssey of the Mind competed. They did a great job. We are so proud of our students!
