Good evening Jaguars,
This is Mrs. Hopkins, Happy New Year. I hope you all had a wonderful winter break. As a reminder school will resume for students on Monday, January 8, 2024. Due to current staff and number of students enrolled there have been some changes to our fifth grade classes. There are some students that have been assigned a different homeroom teacher. This change will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024. If your child's class assignment was changed a letter will be sent home on Monday. Report cards and academic jeopardy letters will be sent home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. If your child receives an academic jeopardy letter a parent/teacher conference is requested, complete the form and return it to school as soon as possible. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held January 29-February 2, 2024. We will also send a Model Release form home, the form allows parents to grant permission for their child's image to be used, please sign the document and return to your child's homeroom teacher. Lastly our school spelling bee is Thursday, January 11th at 9amand our January IMom's breakfast is Friday, January 12th at 7am. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this information please feel free to contact the school. Thanks for your continued support. Have a great evening.

The most recent federal data show that in the 2020-21 school year, at least 14.7 million students nationwide were chronically absent. This means that chronic absence has almost doubled from the more than 8 million students, pre-Covid-19, who were missing so many days of school that they were academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences, and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.
