Picture Day Tomorrow!

We are practicing our lockdown drill today. Thank you!

Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect
with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show
that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent
reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: September 23-27, 2024
Location: MEDIA CENTER
Family Event schedule and location: October 24, 2024 Curriculum Night 5:30pm
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/baileyelementaryschool
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to
shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family
can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fair™. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll
join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever.
Happy reading,
MR. QUINTIN MANGANO
Principal

Today, we honored Shannon Davis, the former Maintenance Supervisor of Nash County Public Schools, who recently passed away. Many members of our staff wore their favorite team jerseys to school today in honor of Shannon, who loved sports and was a BIG Tar Heel fan. Several staff members built close relationships with Shannon and his family, as his children attended Bailey Elementary in their childhood.
Bailey Elementary sends its love and deepest condolences to the Davis family!

Welcome back Bailey Hornets!! We are so excited and ready to go "Beyond the Bar" this year! 🥳🎉

Good Evening Hornet Parents,
We are excited to start the new school year tomorrow morning. We will begin taking students into the building from car line at 7:20 and those students will report to the cafeteria. At 7:40 all students will be directed to their classrooms. Parents may walk children to the classroom tomorrow and for Kindergarten students this will apply to their first day of staggered enrollment. After the first day we ask that all students are dropped off in the manner they will be for the remainder of the year.
For dismissal will will run the car line using the driveway farthest to the east on Pine St. Buses, PreK and our Special Needs students will use the driveway closest to the baseball field. The first few weeks of school our carline will take extra time as our students learn the routine. We ask for your patience as we work through the process. We anticipate dismissal to take up to 45 minutes but know once learned the process will be completed in about 25min. If there is overflow traffic on Pine St in front of school then please pull your car off the side in the direction you are driving. This will help those cars trying to exit at the other end of the driveway.
Buses will be running tomorrow and it will take a few weeks to get their schedule consistent as we will be adding new riders and adjusting routes. Please contact Mrs. Deans with any bus questions.
Thank you for the great turnout at open house last week. It was nice to meet many of you. We all look forward to a great first week as we kick off the new school year and thank you in advance for your patience and support.
Good night.

We would like to thank New Sandy Hill Church, Gold Valley Church of God and XPO for the supplies donated to our staff and students! They are greatly appreciated. 😊🎉
