This summit brings together Student Services professionals from across North Carolina and beyond! It will be a full day of learning, connection, and collaboration—hosted by Nash County Public Schools, a district committed to breaking down barriers to student achievement. Attendees will participate in breakout sessions focused on safety, technology, family engagement, and more as we work together
to strengthen support for every student.

Guest Speaker, Dr. Travis Lewis, ECU Professor in the Educational Leadership Program

Travis Lewis, EdD, is an associate professor of educational leadership and EdD program director in the College of Education at East Carolina University. Lewis obtained his Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Counselor Education from UNC-Chapel Hill before starting his career as a school counselor with Pitt County Schools. Encouraged to pursue leadership at the district level to support student services, Lewis became the program coordinator for the Pitt County Health Sciences Academy, a partnership to support high school students in pursuit of a career in health care in the region. After attending East Carolina University for his Master of School Administration and, later, his Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Lewis became the Executive Director of Student Services for Pitt County Schools and the district’s public information officer. Before joining the faculty at ECU, Lewis served as the Associate Dean of Students for the university, where he led the development of the ECU Cares system of support for students of concern. His research interests include increasing student services and student services staffing to support positive student outcomes, as well as best practices in leadership for improving teacher retention. Lewis has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for 24 years and have two sons together, Gabe (17) and Liam (15).

Keynote Speaker, Dr. André Green of the ECU College of Education

Dr. Green earned his bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University, a Master of Science in chemistry from Hampton University, and education specialist and doctoral degrees from Virginia Tech. At the University of South Alabama, he also served as chair of the Department of Leadership and Teacher Education, associate dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies, and executive director of the Center for Integrative Studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
