New Procedure

Based on the results of our safety survey and in an effort to keep our schools free of weapons, high school students will be picked, at random, to walk through a metal detector or have an administrator randomly wand students. This begins on Monday, January 9, and will take place at least once a week.

Any and all high school students may be chosen to participate including bus riders, carpoolers, walkers, and students that drive. We want to assure you that the selection of those undergoing wanding or being asked to walk through a metal detector is a completely random process. Nash County Public Schools will be documenting the results and closely monitoring this new procedure to make adjustments in the months to come at the high school level and potentially other grade levels. For additional questions, please follow up with your school administrator.
