Federal Programs and Migrant Department Host Supply Drive to Support Local Families

Nashville, NC (October 29, 2025)The Nash County Public Schools’ Federal Programs and Migrant Education Departments recently partnered to host a supply drive benefiting families served through the McKinney-Vento and Migrant Education programs.

The event, held at the Williford Family Resource Center, provided essential items such as sanitation kits, toothbrushes, washcloths, heated blankets, laundry detergent, soap, toothpaste, and coats to help meet the basic needs of families experiencing hardship. Approximately 46 families and 142 individuals participated in the drive.

“Our goal was to ensure that every family feels supported and seen,” said Janet Morris, Director of Federal Programs. “Through collaboration and community generosity, we’re able to offer resources that make a real difference in the daily lives of our students and their families.”

“We are committed to supporting our migratory students educationally, but also providing items such as these, which we know help them tremendously. Our families were so appreciative of this event,” said Hernan Daza, ESL & MEP Coordinator for NCPS. Mrs. Perez (parent) noted: “I can't wait for my kids to come home from school and see the lovely, lightweight jackets. They will be so happy.  Thank you so much for doing this for my family."

The Federal Programs and Migrant Departments extend sincere appreciation to all staff, community partners, and donors who contributed to the success of this initiative.
