Morehead Cain Scholarship

NASH COUNTY, NC — Nash County Public Schools is proud to announce that Amelia Nieves, a senior at Nash Central High School, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The Morehead-Cain Scholarship is one of the most competitive and distinguished scholarships awarded by any university in the United States. As a recipient, Nieves will receive a full scholarship to UNC-Chapel Hill, along with access to unique summer enrichment opportunities designed to expand leadership, service, and global learning experiences.

The program is known for its commitment to developing exceptional student leaders through a rigorous selection process and an unparalleled undergraduate experience. In addition to full financial support, scholars benefit from a strategic Summer Enrichment Program and dedicated funding for discovery and exploration.

Nash County Public Schools congratulates Amelia Nieves on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to seeing the impact she will make as a Morehead-Cain Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Amelia Nieves states that, “Receiving the Morehead-Cain Scholarship has already opened up many doors for me, allowing me to continue my education with the goal of becoming an impactful individual. The foundation supports its students in many areas beyond the classroom by providing opportunities to explore and experience a world that is larger than themselves.”

Dr. Jonathan Tribula, Principal of Nash Central High School, says, “We are incredibly proud of Amelia at Nash Central. She embodies the definition of a well-rounded student, excelling in academics, athletics, and the arts while also leading our school as Student Body President. Amelia shines in every aspect of our school's culture, and no one is more deserving of the Morehead-Cain Scholarship.”
