NCPS Presenting at the State Board Meeting

State Board Meeting

Nash County Public Schools’ Academic Services and Accountability Department was recently invited by the NCDPI Office of Early Learning to present to the North Carolina State Board of Education on the district’s Literacy Intervention Plan for kindergarten through third grade.

The district was selected to highlight how the state-mandated plan is being implemented with fidelity across schools, including instructional resources, progress monitoring, and data-based decision-making. This consistent approach has led to significant growth in K–3 literacy outcomes, as measured by DIBELS.

We are proud of the dedicated work of our educators and leaders and their commitment to strengthening early literacy for every student. During the January Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Steve Ellis shared that it was especially meaningful to see NCPS represented at the State Board of Education meeting, noting that participation is by selection and reflects the district’s strong work in early literacy.
