Nash County to Host Wellness & Recovery Fair Featuring Opioid Settlement Meeting

Nash County, NC – Nash County is proud to announce the upcoming Wellness & Recovery Fair, a free, community-centered event aimed at promoting mental health, substance use recovery, and overall wellness. The fair will take place on Thursday, September 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Brown Auditorium at Nash Community College, located at 522 N. Old Carriage Road, Rocky Mount.

With the theme Empowering Wellness, Inspiring Recovery, this event brings together local partners, community members, and service providers for an evening of education, support, and connection. The fair is free and open to the public, and will feature:

  • Free Food
  • Narcan Training and Distribution
  • Mental Health and Substance Use Resources
  • On-Site Health Checks
  • Wellness and Recovery-Focused Vendors and Organizations
  • Giveaways and Much More

A special feature of this event is the Opioid Settlement Annual Meeting, which will provide community members the opportunity to learn how Nash County is utilizing funds from the national opioid settlement. Nash County is set to receive over $10 million over the course of the settlement, designated specifically for opioid abatement strategies. These funds will support prevention, treatment, recovery services, harm reduction, and community engagement efforts aimed at addressing the impact of substance use and saving lives.

"This event is about more than just resources, it's about community connection and healing," said Tia Foula, Assistant County Manager. "With over $10 million coming to Nash County for opioid abatement, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make real change, and we need the community's voice and input to do it right. We want every resident to know that help is available, and that their voice is essential in the recovery and wellness journey we're building together."

The event is hosted in partnership with Nash Community College, Trillium Health Resources, Nash County Public Schools, Rural Forward NC, UNC Health Nash, and Nash County Government.
