Nash County Public Schools Announces Spelling Bee Winner

Nashville, NC — February 11, 2026 — Rocky Mount, N.C. – Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) celebrated its annual district spelling bee at Rocky Mount Middle School.

 

After 18 rounds, Joshua Powell-Outlaw from Rocky Mount Middle School emerged as the NCPS Spelling Bee Champion. The winner will advance to represent the district at the Carolina Panthers Regional Spelling Bee in Charlotte on March 1, 2026. Giovanni Bobbitt, a 7th grader from Nash Central Middle, secured second place and will serve as an alternate for the regional competition.

 

The district-level bee is a qualifier for the 2026 Carolina Panthers Regional Spelling Bee, presented by Bank of America, which features top champions from across North and South Carolina.

 

NCPS extends congratulations to Joshua Powell-Outlaw, Giovanni Bobbitt, and all participants for their perseverance and outstanding achievement.

 

The championship word was grandeur.
