Commitment to Student Safety and Well-Being

Nash County Public Schools Commitment to Student Safety & Well Being

As part of our continued commitment to student safety and well-being, students in grades six through 12 will view age-appropriate safety videos provided by the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools during the first five days of the 2025-2026 school year. These videos are designed to help students recognize and understand the warning signs of adult misconduct, including grooming behaviors, and to encourage them to seek help and report.

In accordance with Session Law 2023-128/HB142 and North Carolina General Statute G.S. 115C-105.57(2a), public schools are required to show these educational videos annually. The goal is to increase awareness among students, staff, and families about the signs of potentially harmful behavior by adults and to support a culture of safety, trust, and open communication in our school community.

While the videos depict scenarios involving school staff, the underlying message is not specific to school employees. The purpose is to help students remain vigilant in all settings and with any adult they may encounter, not just at school.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools a safe and supportive environment for all students. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.
